BookBlog is featuring a little toy called the Gender Genie. Based on an algorithm designed to link syntax and word choice with gender, the Genie is supposed to be able to intuit an author’s sex based on a sample of their writing.

I recently realized that, to most of the web-surfing world, RSS still sounds like a neurological disorder or something you get from messing around with the wrong kind of girl. As such, I’ve added a small form to most pages where my loyal readers (all one and a half of you) can sign up to receive e-mail notifications when a new entry is posted.

Jeff Rasmussen has created an amusing modern tribute to the Bard by rewriting Hamlet’s famous “To be or not to be…” soliloquy as gangsta rap.

Even “Yorick, homie of mad phat clownin’” would be hard-pressed to come up with a funnier rendition of the Bard’s immortal words. Read and enjoy.

The W3C is calling the latest release of their Markup Validator “The ‘Zeldman Made Us Do It!’ Release.”

Taking our cue from from [sic] a certain web pundit’s meanderings, the big news in this version is internal support for custom and customizeable [sic] error explanations. This means an end to digging all over the net drying to figure out what an error message means; just turn on the “Verbose Output” option and the explanation will be displayed inline with each error message.

Sounds dandy to me! Now back to work fixing all those damned dirty urls that are keeping my site from validating…
