Fox News is suing Al Franken, Saturday Night Live alumnus and political humorist, for using the words “Fair and Balanced” in the title of his new book.

Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right is Franken’s latest book of scathingly witty left-wing hilarity, and the conservative Fox News Network apparently believes that Mr. Franken is violating its trademark by using the simple phrase “Fair and Balanced” in the title.

To help alert the public to Al’s plight and point up the ludicrousness of this suit, Neal Pollack has declared today — August 22, 2003 — to be Fair and Balanced Day. Whatever your political views, you can show how silly you think Fox News is being by joining hundreds of others in using the phrase “Fair and Balanced” in your blog’s tagline.
