Woman Suffers Burns in Cell Phone Flame-Out
Reuters reports that an Amsterdam woman sustained slight burns to her face and neck when her cell phone burst into flames.
The manufacturer, Nokia, says that similar incidents have been caused by a faulty replacement battery. “In all cases it was caused by a replacement battery which was not a Nokia accessory,” said a spokesman. “The manufacturers violated security requirements which should prevent it from heating up after short circuiting, for instance, after it was dropped.” Um, doesn’t that just scream “recall” to somebody?
Still, it could’ve been worse. The Nokia representative went on to say, “We’ve heard about phones that overheated, melted, and, in the worst case, exploded.” Happy chatting, Nokia customers!

“This phone will self-destruct in 15 sec….”
