Solar Flare Hits Britain, Not As Bad As Expected

A massive solar flare that has been the cause of much anxiety hit Great Britain early this morning, and New Scientist reports that the effects are not as bad as had been feared due to the magnetic polarity of particles in the flare. The kinds of massive power outtages and communications disruptions that were initially predicted have not been seen so far.

Rumors that the solar flare will still cause you to hit more red lights on your way back from your lunch break and drastically increase static cling in dryers around the world are presently unconfirmed.

The counter service I use is down for maintenance, and pages may be loading slowly as your web browser tries in vain to contact the server the counters run from. It should be fixed by sometime in the wee hours of Monday US Central Time. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Update: Everything seems to be working fine now.

Mac Users: Help Wanted

I recently upgraded my hit counter / analysis on this blog, and I’ve noticed since then that many of my visitors are Mac users, mostly browsing with Safari. I only have a PC, so I can’t test these pages in anything except IE, Netscape / Mozilla, and Opera. I used to run Linux on this machine as well, and could use KDE’s Konqueror to emulate Safari, but I had to reformat my Linux partition to make room for all the stuff I’ve been downloading since I got a cable modem (i.e. crack for infojunkies).

So if there are any kind-hearted Mac users among you who would care to let me know how my site works and looks on your computers, please leave your comments.
