Using Oscar Hill’s wonderful EZ Subscribe to Comments script, I’ve just set up comment subscriptions on this blog. The radio buttons to toggle subscriptions on or off is right there in the comment form, below the “Remember your info?” radio buttons. If you choose to subscribe to a conversation in comments, you’ll get an e-mail whenever a new comment is entered on that entry. The e-mail will contain a link back to the entry (in case you want to add something to the conversation) and a link to a configuration page where you can change your subscription settings for whatever entries you’ve subscribed to.

'WTF Plate' courtesy the ACME License Maker, with minor alterationsAn unlikely search phrase has boosted me to the top of search engine rankings.

I posted an entry about a funny Flash movie in November, and since last month my site has been among the top three hits on Google for the words “wtf mate” (it was even #1 until recently, and still is on Vivisimo). I’ve gotten over 2,000 referrals from search engines by people looking for variations on that phrase. Paltry numbers for some blogs, sure, but for my little corner of the ether that’s pretty good traffic. And this for a swearing kangaroo. The web is a very strange place indeed.

Okay, so, long break for the holidays followed by the return-to-work readjustment period, and I haven’t posted anything for a month. Whoops!

I’m easing back into the swing of things with a post about the humorous exploits of a couple of bored Brits who, according to UK tabloid The Sunday Mirror, dressed up as chauffeurs, gave carefully-arranged unpronounceable “foreign” names to the info desk, and had them page the phony passengers to report for their rides. They recorded the results being read over the airport loudspeakers. Listen and laugh.
