A Dean Candidacy Post-Mortem
Howard Dean has bowed out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. MSNBC has a good post-mortem.

I recently discovered that my computer monitor has been badly mis-calibrated for handling digital photos. As a result many of the pictures in my photoblog are oversaturated, too dark, or both. My apologies for all the orange skin and murky shadows (especially if you’re one of the people in the pictures!). I plan to work on getting the photos that have been posted so far fixed over this coming weekend.
Proper gamma correction is something every digital photo buff should know about. You can find a quick overview in this old Webmonkey article, and more detailed information on this page. For easy gamma correction on Wintel machines, I recommend QuickGamma. Read the help file first, and you should have your monitor correctly calibrated in no time.
A wall calendar that takes the tropes of classic B-grade horror movie posters and transposes them over modern office life. Featuring the terrifying Robot Boss (”He speaks in pre-recorded loops, moves in jerks, and never shows emotion!”) and the sinister Henchman Boss (”He gives you all the rope you want… and then hangs you with it!”).
Simultaneously wry and creepy, this calendar is Dilbert on Bella Lugosi. A must-see for weary cubicle-dwellers.
After moving to Mozilla Firefox 0.8, I noticed that the new window used to open external links from this blog was being killed by the built-in pop-up blocker. This prompted me to do something I’ve been contemplating for a long while and just do away with the external window all together.
I used Movable Type’s find & replace feature to remove (I hope) every target attribute from every entry on the site. If you happen to run across any that weren’t hit, please let me know.

Janet Jackson’s breast-baring stunt during the Super Bowl has made Internet history by becoming the most searched-for event in the history of the Web, trumping even the September 11th attacks on the United States. I’ll leave it to the reader to ponder what this means for the state of civilization.
Also, Jackson’s right breast has officially endorsed Howard Dean for president. In response to the news, a delighted Dean replied “YAAAAARRGHH!”
