Texas Woman Gives Birth to Own Grandchildren
A 52 year-old Dallas woman gave birth to her own twin granddaughters on Sunday. Marianne Thoms was serving as a surrogate mother for her daughter, who cannot bear children due to scarring in her uterus. The arrangement was made to avoid possible legal complications over custody of the child. (Reuters)
Update: It happened again! A 55 year-old VA woman gave birth to her daughter’s triplets! Is this now officially a trend?

ohhhhh, that’s kinda gross. Damn it Texas!!

Ummm…er…I am confused and feel funny. Gram?

Yeah, Colleen. Texas is *weird.* Hey, wait… aren’t you from there?
Mr. Monkeyspit, I have to agree that this might lead to a wee bit of familial confusion for the little twins if granny and mommy aren’t careful. Best idea: don’t even bother mentioning it to them. Are you listening, grandma? That means saying *no* to those “I was in labor with you two for twenty hours and this is the thanks I get?” stories!

Come to think of it, the funniest thing about this entry so far may be that (as of this writing, anyway) the related entries plugin I’m running has rounded up all of the Janet Jackson boob posts as among the most similar to this one.
Think maybe MT-RelatedEntries is due for some Freudian therapy?

It may sound strange at first but the result is that a couple wanting a child very badly now have beautiful twin girls. Remember Lousie Brown? She was the first in vitro baby born and everybody freaked out. Now it is very common. Shame on ya’ll for being so narrow minded!

Aw, Kelly, you shouldn’t take us so seriously!
I was more amused than shocked by this story, and I certainly don’t begrudge the family a single ounce of their happiness.
You have to admit, though, that the sheer postmodernity of this little newsbit is a little mind-boggling. When I was a kid, this sort of thing was strictly “Twilight Zone” material.
