Google by Numbers
As a prospect researcher, I’m always keeping my eye on the latest and greatest search engine developments. Today I discovered that Google has added some interesting new features that allow you to find special-purpose information by entering certain kinds of numbers and codes.
UPS tracking numbers, FedEx tracking numbers, USPS tracking numbers, Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN), UPC codes (I just successfully googled the bag of Doritos I’m munching on), telephone area codes, patent numbers, FAA airplane registration numbers, airline flight numbers (e.g. “United 80“), and FCC equipment IDs are the current offerings for the “search by number” feature. I’m sure more will be added over time. (Washington Post)
