Rayne has posted an interesting review of the Textpattern CMS, which is still in development but shows a lot of promise. She originally sent her impressions to me in e-mail, but I asked her to post them because there seem to be few commentaries on Textpattern that come from the perspective of someone with Movable Type experience.

Rayne’s review appears to* provide a good overview of the managerial and templating aspects of Textpattern, which is what I was hoping to learn more about. While I was poking around again yesterday, I also found a more technical look at the structure and semantics of the Textpattern UI from Joel Dueck. Good stuff all around, and I’d like to thank Rayne and Joel for all the information on this new tool. I’m definitely penciling it in as something I want to try in the future.

*I say “appears to” only because I haven’t been able to actually test TP myself.
