For two people on opposite sides of the party fence, you and I certainly seem to think the same way about this. Please check out my blog sometime. I would like to form as large and coherent a network of "anti-secessionists" as possible. :)

(I'm politely ignoring your "fooled into voting" comment. I'm sure my own bias slips out now and then, too.)

I understand anger... been there and done that... but it is pointless to let anger fuel your decisions and your voting. I agree that you said that the people "Fooled" and not "Fools"... I concede that, but understand that if you truly believe that the Republican party fooled people, then you must recognize the Democrats do the SAME THING.

Why does EMINEM get to say that Buhs with Draft and kill everyone kids? There is no evidence of a draft, NONE Whatsoever. To proclaim that Bush will remove Social Security again was a scare tactic with NO EVIDENCE. Now ABC is reporting Conspiracy Theory on how the Exit Polls were right and the Votes were worng. How is this helpful? How is it helpful to paint Bush the Devil at every turn? Disgaree with Bush loudly... Your right as an American, but stop the utter hatred and attacks on his personal Character (not saying you, but most of your colleages). Be careful not to insult the President so badly, that you create a lack of respect for the office.

I am not entirely sure the Terror alerts were planned... How do you know? Where is the evidence? Is it entirely possible that many want to believe that theory?

I rarely heard of the Republicans speaking about value, but I heard Democrats attacking then at every turn... You see, middle america watched Movies and Television created by the celebrity left. Tehy see the utter hatred portrayed in movies about us and our "Hickness" The Hollywood left is overboard and hurting your party Bigtime. No one is interested in Cameron Diaz telling us that Bush will legalize rape (She said this on Oprah two weeks before the election). That is a blatently ridiculous statement and made her look stupid. Nobody said it, but they thought it. That is just one example. The Republicans did not have to preach moral values when Whoopi is grabbing her crotch on National TV and then complaining when Slim Fast let her go. She did not realize that everyone who saw that thought it was overboard.

Dennis Miller used ot announce Bush at rallies and Karl Rove thanked him and told him that Americans do not want to see celebrities in politics. He was right (I know that Democrats wish they had a Karl Rove, all they have a Bob Shrum who is 0 for 8). This was the right strategy... and all it was is a strategy, not a conspiracy to fool voters. We are not that dumb. Like you, I have been fooled before. But you cannot "FOOL" 51 - 52% of the population. Think about it. If you can say that, then you can argue that 48% was fooled into thinking Kerry was a great leader... I do not know... it is theory, but that is all it is.

You got a good blog... I can be your voice of reason (heh) if you would like. Stop by my blog sometime... I could use a reasonable Liberal for commenting. Reasonable Liberals are hard to find (heh again)...

PS: You need to tell your Liberal friends to stop with the Conspiracy theory about the vote count. It does NO ONE any good to put a stink on Bush's second term just for a vendeta... It might make people feel better to create this stink on Bush, but having four years of gridlock and hatred is of no one's benefit. Let he do his job and disagree all you like. I gave Clinton that respect.

Thanks for letting me post...

Collin,

As you could probably tell, I was pretty mad when I wrote this. My anger wasn't pointed at the people in the red states, though; it was pointed at the "move to Canada" contingent of the left.

I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I consider red-staters to be fools. That's not quite what I said, however. I said that they'd been "fooled into voting for" politicians whose policies may not really offer them the best deal from their government. You don't have to be a fool to get fooled. I like to think that I'm a pretty smart guy, but I've been fooled plenty of times --- by attractive women, slipery salesmen, and people I'd thought were my friends. It happens to the best of us.

As for corrupt politicians on the Republican side vs. corrupt politicians on the Democratic side, let me make one thing clear: I think they're all assholes of one kind or another. The thing that really burns me about the Republican party lately --- and about the Bush administration in particular --- is the pattern of deliberate deception. Saying one thing to get popular support, then doing another. Consistently raising the terror alert at the most politically convenient times. Turning deeply-felt issues of personal morality issues into topics of national policy in an effort to gain votes. Taking us into a foreign war under false pretenses. The list goes on and on; I'm sure you've heard it all before.

Gay marriage: Yeah, Newsom pushed too far too fast. If he wanted to stage a big showy act of civil disobedience, he should've waited until after the presidential election was over. Oh well, it's all spilled milk at this point. Personally, I don't think the gay marriage issue even belongs at the national level. I just wrote a post the other night about how gay marriage could be approached as a states' rights issue, leaving the matter at a more local level where people are more likely to agree peaceably on a law that matches the moral boundaries of the region.

As for the Dems' next candidate, I agree that Hillary would be a lousy choice. There are several reasons, and I think I'm going to post on it at some point in the future. Right now, though, I'm beat. Off to bed for me.

Thanks for your comment. I really am glad to see some "right-wingers" stopping by and leaving their thoughts. These are exactly the kinds of discussions Americans should be having, since I think they often help us see how much more we have in common than we thought. Sorry if I pushed a few of your buttons with this post, but sometimes that can be a good thing. Now I have a better idea of what not to say when I'm trying to communicate an idea to a right-leaning person or audience!

Interesting article... As a "Fooled" Redneck from Southern Louisiana, I agree with your assumtpion that you should just have your politics and not throw it in your face... Seems like a Liberal who has figured it out. Then you went on to your "Fooled" comment and lost me. You seem that very statement goes back to the fact that we are idiots who were fooled and you guys are "Enlightened"...

All this secession talk make us "Knuckle Draggers" (Like Maureen Doud Called Us..) say to just go... Be Canadian... Buh-Bye...

Why are all Republicans "Corrupt" and all Democrats "Caring Individuals"? Why make a stereotypoical assumption about a whole group of people and then preach to them about morality and acceptance? You preach acceptance and yet to do accept? Win the people's hearts and you will win elections... call them stupid and you look stupid.

The fact is that the RNC did not have to do much with Moore, Gerafalo, Franken, Goldberg, Streisand, and all these other angry hateful people waving the DNC flag. Then, the LIBs preach about morality and then get a judge to legalize Gay Marriage, regardless of what the people think or want. The Mayor of SanFran marries 3000 couples ILLEGALLY and calls it a victory. It scared people... But for the most part, they would have overwhelmingly accepted civil unions... But, the Ultra-Left could not wait... they just took it... You cannot do that to a society which founded its principles on Democracy. No one was fooled... the DNC was just too angry and too bitter to provide a Positive message. They also provide a heavily flawed candidate. You need a Moderate Guys... you cannot win with ultra lefties... and Hilary will be more of the same... She doesn't have a shot. The "RED" areas will grow even greater. Bill Clinton was a moderate... that is why he did so well... Hilary is not... be careful on that pick...

I agree with your blog for the most part... You seem like a LIB who tries to see the big picture as I do. But, you will never convince anyone that your ideas have merit when you lump 51%-52% of the Country in a catagory that you proclaim to be fools. You advocate to not push politics in the Knuckle Draggers faces, yet, here you are calling them fools. People call you anti-American and I know it pisse you off... but how can you be Pro-America and be Anti 52% of Americans?

Lastly... we will survive this... Bush will be gone in 4 years... Just focus on your next Presidential selection and stop the "Fools" comments.
