Just a note of something to be aware of in any cat foods: As my ex-husband and I had something severe to deal with in our kitty--Alexander Buckingham. Shellfish is very dangerous for them. The chitin collects in the urinary tract which, especially in male cats is so tiny that the tract becomes blocked. This is more likely to occur in males than in females, but happens in either.
Alex was so incredibly sick. We ended up taking him in to the emergency vet who had to put tubes into him to drain all the toxins from him poor little body. So just be careful that your cats, male of female aren't getting the chitin. I know that it is in the shells of seafood, but I'm pretty sure that they really shouldn't have the fish wih bone in them either. It was really scarry. We almost lost him for good. The vet said that had another hour gone by, she didn't think she could save him.

I read through the comments on the "Fancy Feast now in choking..." post and am intrigued at how many said that Fancy Feast caused some reactions in cats. I understand that Adam also stated there was nothing backing this up but it does peek my interest. If enough people have issues there could very well be something to it.

My mother's cat was just put down last week due to kidney failure. The cat was 7 years old, an indoor cat and ate only fancy feast. My mother contacted them when her cat was first diagnosed. My mother asked where their Wheat Gluten comes from and was told some of it comes from the free market (I will double check that I am not sure if that is exactly what it was called) and my mother asked if any of the countries could include China and she was told perhaps. Then the woman asked her to read the labels off to her and she did. The woman was particularly interested in the Tuna and chicken food my mother had. She took her info and said that she would be eligible for reimbursement of vet bills etc. and my mother received a letter in the mail shortly after from a claims company. My mother also contacted the FDA and let them know. Only problem was that by the time my mother knew to contact the FDA she no longer had any cans that may have been in question. My mother is going to have them reimburse her for the vet bills. Funny they will pay for vet bills, yet they don't realize how painful it is to watch a cat die from this. The woman at the FDA left a message on the machine and said "we are still investigating...hope your kitty is feeling better". Feeling better? She was dying a slow painful death.

I will let you know the outcome of this, but would like to know if anyone else has experienced problems in their cats now a few months after the recall from Fancy Feast. My mother's cat started to lose weight somewhat rapidly. Took her to the vet and she was diagnosed. She started vomiting and urinating wherever, drank a lot, barely ate and a once affectionate and sweet cat was still affectionate but had the permanent look of being agitated. So incredibly sad. When they had her put down because her quality of life was gone, she screamed when they administered the needle because there was no fat to put it in. The vet initially tried and gave her special food etc. and my mom had some false hope that she would improve, but she never did...poor girl. She will be missed. I have pictures of her what she looked like before and after and I can scan the paperwork my mother has as well as some sort of documentation.

The vet said it was a classic case of melamine poisoning and I feel if that is the case then Misty was not an isolated case. Would be interested in hearing from others. I will open an email account just for responses if I would be allowed to post an email address...that way if I get spam I will just close that email account?

Why not find out what other people have to say when they've done some research as to what dog food to buy and which is best for your dog, like organic dog food or cooking at home for your dog. Found some good comments here:

Pays to do some research as to what you are going to feed you dog, he/she's worth it no?
