Tonight I’m doing something that I never thought I would do on this web site: asking my readers for money. This isn’t the usual blogger thing of seeking donations to pay for hosting or asking you to put money in the tip jar if you like my writing. There’s nothing wrong with either of those things, but I write here simply because I enjoy it and my hosting is free for life because I invested $200 in the startup of TextDrive. Instead, I’m raising funds to help my mother, who is sick and needs medical care out of state.   (more…)

London Public Transit Attacked, al-Qaida Claims Responsibility

At least 40 people were killed and 350 wounded in rush hour attacks on London’s public transportation system this morning. Four nearly simultaneous explosions hit the UK capital — three on the London Underground and the fourth on a double-decker bus. A group boasting of ties to al-Qaida has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

My college buddy Jen turns 29 years old tomorrow. She’s also hugely pregnant. Which has nothing to do with anything, except that I really want to know when the due date is. I can’t find it on her journal, so maybe if I mention it in an annoying way here she’ll tell me. ;-)

Anyway, happy birthday! Have I mentioned that I might be in the Tucson area in the near future?

My faithful 1993 silver Grand Am, Gracie, expired today of complications from a cracked head gasket. She was 108,462 miles old, and is survived by my bicycle, Vic.
