I had been facing this bug for months. When it happens, I can't use the arrow keys / home / end / pg down / pg up / ' and many more. So annoying! I tried everything you suggested, but that didn't solve my problem.

When this happens, try hitting ctrl + c and paste it in notepad. You'll see the content of another tab. So this is obviously a focus issue. I tried opening other tabs, closing some of the tabs, etc., but none of them worked. But, when I hit Ctrl + N to open a new window and closed it, this problem disappeared! This is no permanent fix, but it does its job pretty well, every time I use it.

All of the references to this problem that I've found are from several years ago. I'm now using Firefox 3.5 and am STILL having this problem, even after applying the fix you have in this post. Are there any updates to what could be causing this? Also, I wonder why Mozilla still hasn't fixed it.

Thanks for the update, Paul. It's sad to hear that Stuffed Guys are having to suspend their operations due to poor sales and the global economic slowdown. Recessions are tough for all businesses, but small companies are often the hardest hit and the first to fall.

I hope they'll get a chance to return to work on their products at some point in the future.

Stuffed Guys today announced that they are putting their product development "on hold" due to declining sales:

http://forums.stuffedguys.com/index.php?showtopic=1443

Stuffed Tracker and Factory Nova were very useful (and quite innovative) tools with great potential. We've used them productively for quite some time but must now turn to other options due to the complete lack of support and improbability of updates. It's sad to see them fade away in this fashion and it's a caution to other small developers who fail to cultivate an appropriate sales channel early on. You can't just build it and hope they come...

I wish these guys--especially Johann, who tried to keep things going--the best of luck.

Have ver. 2.00.16 Couldn't use single quote(eg.I'll) without invoking "quick find" box. Used your about:com enter suggestion , the "accessibility.typeaheadfind.autostart" was in bold with a value of 0. Doubleclicked and changed value to 1. Problem fixed. Thanks for your help.
