@Lois: Netscape and Firefox are two different things. It's complicated, but the short version is that the Firefox browser is a distant descendant of Netscape Navigator --- another, much older, browser.

There was a revival of the Netscape brand name when a new browser, based on Firefox, was released under that name for awhile. It failed to catch on, however, so it's been discontinued. Firefox was unaffected by this, and will continue to be developed and supported.

If you had a Netscape.com e-mail account, I'm not sure what will happen to it. The service is provided by AOL (who own the Netscape brand), so you might want to contact them about it. This page from their online customer support database might also be of help.

I could explain the 15 or so reasons why, but your age and IQ make me think it isn’t worth typing the words.

I'm a few weeks shy of 31, and my IQ is over 150. I say "over" because the tester informed me that my language score was beyond the test's scoring range.

So, yeah, I think I can handle your list of 15 reasons. However smart I might be, there are plenty of things I don't know much about. Go for it.

Boing Boing TV shows how to steal credit card information with a laptop and an $8 peripheral. What, you trusted credit card companies for security? Ha!

To be fair to Weezer, it's possible they didn't have any choice.

One of the (many) screwed-up things about the record industry is that the record company gets all the rights to the music. It's one of the only businesses where the original creator retains no ownership.

Some bands have the foresight to put a clause in their contracts that gives them the final say in the licensing of their music, but not all of them. If Weezer's agent neglected to push for that kind of protection, then this might've happened without any participation or agreement from them at all.

At least I hope that's the case.

Yep that commercial has been playing for a while(maybe a month or so), Weezer are officially "sell outs" now. I don't think it was even them singing the song so that's pretty bad, unless they didn't have the master and it was done against their will somehow. I know Jack White did a Coca-Cola commercial but I didn't think of that as selling out because it was actually an original song and was more like a music video(also i never actually saw it on tv.
